More Than Chrome Plating - Customized Surface Profiles for Every Roller
Hard chrome plating solves the question of "how well does the surface resist wear?" But in many applications, the critical requirement is not wear resistance. It is "how well does the surface grip, how evenly does it reflect light, or how easily does the material release?"
- Printing ink rollers require microscopic surface valleys to retain and transfer ink-not a mirror-smooth surface.
- Decorative film laminating rollers need a uniform matte texture to reduce unwanted reflections-not a glossy finish.
- High-end optical film coating rollers require an ultra-flat, defect-free surface to maintain coating quality-not simply a conventional polished finish.
- Roller refurbishment often requires removing machining marks and scratches and restoring surface uniformity.
These requirements cannot be fully addressed by hard chrome plating alone. In some cases, chrome plating itself can also increase the roller's outside diameter.
This is where purely physical surface profiling processes-such as sandblasting and polishing-become essential.
Unlike chemical surface treatments, these processes do not change the roller's chemical composition. Instead, they modify the microscopic geometry and texture of the surface, making them an important complementary solution to chrome plating in roller surface treatment.
We operate 8 automated sandblasting systems, covering a full range of abrasive media from fine glass beads to coarse corundum, as well as 5 precision polishing systems, including diamond grinding and nano-level polishing. Our equipment can process rollers with diameters from 20 mm to 1.8 m and lengths from 0.3 m to 8 m.
